The article is devoted to the history of the state power supervision as a form of state and administrative activity, its establishment and regularities of legal and organizational development. The necessity of studying grounds for development of the state power supervision, formation of its bodies and investment with competence since the beginning of the 20th century is caused by the reforming public administration in the sphere of power engineering. The author of this article focuses attention on the main stages of emergence and development of the state supervision in the power sphere for the purpose of detection of preconditions of modern federal state power supervision. In the article legal acts on the state power supervision and the changes made to them are also analyzed.
