Abstract

The article deals with public relations arising in the ancient society and the state, and in need of legal regulation. We study the process of formation of mechanisms of legal regulation of the life of Eastern Slavic society, the establishment of state-legal status of the prince, determine the nature of ancient Russian state and the impact on the subsequent development of state institutions. On the basis of factual data prove that the princes and statutory activities emanating from these judicial practice have led to the transformation of  the existing law. The peculiarities of judgments of ancient princes, allowing to allocate it among the other sources of law.
