Abstract

Theoretical and practical aspects of the analytic activity, underlying the process of forming investigator’s decision are examined by the analysis of theoretical and legal positions, the views of representatives of criminal procedure science and the norms of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. The author concludes that a universal method, being the algorithm of investigative activities, is a dialectical method, the features of which can be classified regarding the investigation process as a whole and the activities of an investigator in particular. In the course of any investigation, the investigator not only analyzes the facts of the case, in the process of making a decision he operates within “perception/research-analysis-assessment” and follows the laws of the system analysis.
