Abstract

The paper outlines important issues associated with applying the provisions of Article 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation which imply the extension of procedural powers of interrogating officer, investigator when considering the reported offences up to the moment when the criminal case is initiated. Notwithstanding the totally positive nature of legislative changes, there are some issues that arise when the provisions of the named article are being applied, these issues are discussed herein.
