Abstract

The article focuses on the role of the Governing Senate to reform the judicial system in Russia in the middle of the XIX century. The article highlights the essence and content of the government’s functions of the Senate as the highest judicial authority. The conclusion of the work of the Governing Senate and its influence on the development of public relations. Particular attention is paid to the jurisprudence as a factor for the development of civil rights. The activity of cassation departments, which results in a huge amount of legal reception ideas developed in theory. The article analyzes the state of the judicial system in Russia by the end of 1850-ies The author emphasizes in its conclusions that many unsolved problems necessitated the reform of the judiciary. The process of transformation of the Russian judicial system of the second half of the XIX century, the stages of its development, the reasons for conversion.
