The article examines the legal features of the implementation of the border policy of the Russian Federation within the Commonwealth of Independent States (hereinafter — CIS), defines the role of border policy to ensure the security of the border — the CIS member states. The basic challenges and threats to border security of Russia and countries — members of the CIS.
