Abstract

The article examines the concept of organization of police activity called the «community policing» which is widespread in modern democratic states. The first part of the article is dedicated to social and academic prerequisites of the given concept in 1980s. The second part deals with indicating uncertainty of doctrinal representation of the «community policing» concept in foreign (English-speaking) sources, the lack of reflection of its basic provisions and principles in domestic doctrine, as well as the diversity of forms of its practical implementation in foreign countries. The material is intended for people interested in contempo-rary experience of the organization and reformation of police structures.
